Ingrid Forster provides a professional counselling service within a safe and respectful environment; so important for building the trust and self-acceptance which leads to personal growth.  Ingrid has a particular interest in relationship therapy and specialises in working with couples, as well as individuals facing distress.  Being trained in several evidence based approaches, Ingrid works collaboratively with her clients to build on strengths, unlock stuck emotions, develop skills and improve relationships.

Through counselling, both individuals and couples can reduce distress, enhance coping, and increase insight to strengthen their relationships.  Once the trust and closeness build in the relationship, real transformation begins to occur.  This is where the growth and healing occurs and new patterns of relating are consolidated.

Ingrid has training in several approaches including a range of Medicare approved Focused Psychological Strategies, as well as Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Attachment based and Emotion focused techniques and Internal Family Systems model.

Emotion Focused Couples Therapy  is an evidence based model for resolving couples problems. Being trained in Family Therapy means Ingrid can also support the whole family to help resolve difficulties and strengthen family connections.

Ingrid currently works in a community health setting providing counselling to older adults, as well as managing her own private practice with both individuals and couples.
